You Sit and Watch 2000
Water, polyvinyl chloride pipe, wood, wallpaper, rubber duckies, pillow, participant.
9’x9’x36″
The title of this piece puts the viewers position into question-on the defensive.
The viewer is to question what it is they are watching and what is their roll in the watching.
The rubber ducks float aimlessly in their walled containers as the viewer/participant sits comfortably on their ‘throne’.
The wallpaper on the platform is a composite of two papers; one is a water droplet pattern, the other a mixture of topiaries.
The wallpaper patterns are cartoonish simulations of nature. Your seat is ready.
