Returning Water 1999
Performance on high-speed film, slow motion digital edit.
Installation: video projection, kitchen glasses, wood.
The performance was a meditative actof filling my mouth withwater and then slowly spitting or returning the water back into each glass in succession.
Similar to the cycle of tides, the life and death cycle, the crest/ trough relationship in waves.
I wanted to create an act that was deliberate in its timing yet esoteric in character.
This act was then slowed for projection to create a distortion of time.
The installation included an elongated dining-esque table with all the glasses I owned at the time and the projection.
