While traveling Europe, Heather Cushman-Dowdee and I wanted to create art that took us out into the streets out of the studio–that participated in the daily.

Creating Celebrity began as an attempt to find a different venue from the traditional white walls. Amsterdam and its pedestrian culture was a perfect place to present introverted performances on an extroverted, civic scale.

Art from our studios flowed outward into the streets: we used the city as our gallery.
